Summer Solstice Pageant!
I just got home from the Summer Solstice Pageant. It was entitled "What's Up With The Deer," and was the TENTH annual pageant put on by good Harbor Hill Players at the North House Folk School. It was amazing, and the Harbor looked beautiful with the setting sun illuminating the boats against the dark blue water. A huge crowd gathered, and I felt really lucky to live here.
Wooden Boat Show
So today I went to the wooden boat show at the North House Folk School. I had my eye on this boat, but when I waved at my friend Jeri, they thought I was bidding. Anyway, A few minutes later, I was the new owner of a 1964 18' Thompson Wooden Hulled motorboat with a 90 HP Evinrude motor. Last year at the boat show, I bought my kayak.

HDC buys Grand Marais building
(copied from the boreal.org website)

Just a year ago, the Human Development Center (HDC) of Grand Marais, changed its location to the former premises of Superior Properties on Highway 61 West. At that time, HDC staff expressed appreciation for the new building with its bright comfortable offices, a kitchen area, and comfortable waiting room. HDC has made that move permanent with the purchase of the building.
Jim Gruba, Executive Director of HDC said, “The purchase of their building in Grand Marais indicates HDC’s long term commitment to serving Cook County residents.”
HDC, headquartered in Duluth, has been providing community mental health services since 1938, and has been located in Grand Marais since 1996. HDC provides therapy, psychiatry, psychological testing, and outreach/in home mental health services in Cook County, and also provides mental health services in Lake, Carlton, and Southern St. Louis County in Minnesota, and in Douglas County, Wisconsin.

New Car
I'm finally home with my new Plymouth! Great way to start Father's Day. I'm exhausted after a 2 1/2 hour car ride to Duluth, followed by a 3 hour bus ride to St. Paul, a 10 hour layover in the train station, a 10 hour train ride, then a 10+ drive home, arriving back about 5:30 am today. Dan took this picture at his place before I hit the road. He picked me up from the Minot, ND train station in his 1928 Model Q Plymouth (the very first "Chrysler Plymouth"!)
Thanks Dan!
